How are you supporting fringe theatre?
Our website includes databases for show listings, venues and industry suppliers. We aim to recognise people in the industry and their roles with nominations throughout the annual season, with finalists and winners announced at an annual (affordable!) awards ceremony.
Can you help to publicise my show?
All fringe shows are eligible for a free listing on our Shows page. If you’d like to be included then please fill in this form. If you wish, you can also be included in our mailout in the week your show opens, for a nominal administration fee of £5.
Is my short-run show eligible?
Yes, shows can be nominated as either a regular or a short-run. Productions with less than 10 performances are considered “short-run”.
Does it cost anything to be assessed?
How do I get nominated for an award?
- Have your show listed on our website (for free)
- Invite reviewers who are regularly reviewing fringe shows
- Have outstanding elements in your show!
Who are the assessors?
All our assessors are anonymous. They are all experienced reviewers who will already be attending shows in that capacity, which means producers will usually not need to supply additional tickets for them.
Who decides who wins an award?
Shows will be proposed for an award nomination by our team of assessors. Finalists and winners will be decided by committee members before the award ceremony.
Are the reviewers who nominate independent?
Yes. They are completely independent. Anyone connected with a performance cannot nominate for that performance nor be involved with the decision making process with regard to awards for that show.
How quickly are nominations announced?
Since our assessors are already at the press night, we aim always to announce nominations in good time for producers to be able to use them in their publicity while the show is still running.
Can I become an assessor?
If you’re already an established theatre reviewer then you can of course apply to join our team. Use our contact form to get in touch.
Is the assessment process arduous?
No. Authorised assessors can propose nominations in just a few minutes. The Nominations form has been designed to work well on mobile, so you can fill it in on your phone.
Do you review shows?
No. Fringe Theatre Awards exists to recognise and reward excellence in the industry. Our experienced assessors are already at the shows, reviewing for other publications.
