Special Award: Geoffrey Brown

Geoffrey Brown - a Visionary Leader in the Arts

Geoffrey has devoted over 45 years to the arts, most recently transforming OffWestEnd and the Offies during his seven years as Director.

Under his leadership, the awards became more inclusive and innovative, with new categories for cabaret, pantomime, solo and duo performances, video design, as well as recognition for youth, community and access-focused work.

He pioneered the removal of gendered performance awards, created commendations for short-run and festival productions, and guided the organisation through the challenges of the pandemic, establishing online awards.

Beyond OffWestEnd, Geoffrey’s work with Euclid has supported arts organisations across the UK and internationally, shaping cultural policy, securing funding, and delivering training in more than 20 countries, while his own theatre productions brought contemporary European issues to major festivals worldwide.

His vision, resilience and commitment have left a lasting legacy for independent theatre and cultural collaboration.
