Sean Denyer is new Artistic Director at The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival

The International Dublin Gay Theatre Festival announce that Sean Denyer @shorndoc has taken up the role of Artistic Director, just the second incumbent after the festival founder and artistic Director, Brian Merrimen @merriman7485 stepped down after two decades in the role.

Sean is no stranger to the festival, seven of his plays have featured in the festival and he has also directed and acted in them as well. Last year he was awarded the Patrick Murray Award by the festival for Outstanding Contribution to LGBTQ+ Theatre.

Sean will work alongside the festival’s Managing Director, Robert Bates to deliver an exciting programme for 2026. Applications are NOW OPEN for the festival which takes place May 4th-17th in Dublin.
